1970 Volkswagen Beetle

The car you see before you, affectionately known as Rehab, started its life as a 1970 Volkswagen Beetle. At some point in its life, it underwent a drastic operation that resulted in the chopped top you see today. The first time I saw Rehab, it was in a corner of my new job, covered in junk, as it had been for years. I talked my boss into selling it to me, and thus began my first rat rod project. It didn't run. It had no wheels or tires, nor fenders. The transmission was jammed up. It was also missing the hood and decklid, and the wiring was a mess. After sitting for who knows how long, the remaining plexiglass windows had hazed over. It needed a lot of work, but it was mine. After a few transmission swaps of ones we had laying around, and a few nights sorting out the engine, it could move around the shop under its own power. A few weeks later, and I had all the body parts built and installed; Rehab was finally beginning to look like a car again. Over the course of the next year, and still today, Rehab has undergone many changes, the result of which you see before you today. Stay tuned, because though it's been a year, the journey for Rehab and myself is far from over!
